More VDL Citeas LLE for Finnish Koiviston Auto

VDL Bus & Coach will deliver more VDL Citeas LLE to Koiviston Auto. The largest passenger transport company in Finland has ordered 30 Citeas LLE. In the summer of 2014 VDL Bus & Coach already delivered 78 Citeas LLE to Koiviston Auto, which was VDL Bus & Coach's largest order ever for the Finnish market.
Antti Norrlin, CEO Koiviston Auto, said “Our positive experience with these lightweight buses in the cities of Kuopio, Lahti and Jyväskylä these past months, particularly in terms of fuel consumption, driving comfort and maintenance costs, have convinced us to order Citeas LLE again.”
Twenty-five buses are destined for the city of Jyväskylä, which with 136,000 residents is Finland's seventh largest city, and five for the city of Oulu, northern Finland's largest city, with a population of more than 196,000. The order will be delivered in August and September 2015.

VDL Citea LLE: innovative, lightweight concept
For the VDL buses with a lightweight construction the focus is on achieving better fuel economy and the resulting emissions reductions. Naturally the buses also continue to meet the highest safety standards. In light of the current cost pressure, the choice for the VDL lightweight concept is a logical step for passenger transport companies that not only want to provide the best possible transport for their passengers but also seek to reduce emissions of harmful substances.

The Citeas for Koiviston Auto will be fitted with a Cummins ISB6.7 engine (187 kW (255 hp) – 6.7 litre) and a ZF automatic gearbox. These Citeas have 39 fixed seats, 4 folding seats on the wheelchair platform and space for around 35 standing passengers.
The seats in the buses for Oulu are a high-back model, providing extra passenger comfort. The multifunctional seating arrangement, in which two folding seats can be locked in the down position for use as a regular seat, allows the Citeas for Oulu to also be used as intercity buses. Energy-saving LED lamps provide balanced lighting. To comfortably transport passengers in the cold Finnish climate the buses will be fitted with double glazing, extra heating and insulation.

Koiviston Auto
Koiviston Auto is the largest passenger transport company in Finland, with an annual turnover of 118 million euro, generated in equal shares by the city service and long-distance transport divisions. The company has 1,500 employees. Its fleet comprises 750 coaches and public transport buses, which drive around 58 million km per year.
