This summer, VDL Bus & Coach delivered 30 VDL Citeas LLE and 13 VDL Futuras to Icelandic operator Kynnisferdir. Kynnisferdir, which operates in the tour world under the name Reykjavik Excursions, have expanded their operations to include more public transport services. The VDL Citeas LLE will be deployed on lines operated for local public transport company Strætó bs.

“We are proud of the fact that we may provide line services for Strætó. For us, the decision to expand our fleet with 30 VDL Citeas LLE for these line services is a logical choice. The extremely low kerb weight of this bus, with as main benefits significantly lower fuel consumption and lower maintenance costs, fits perfectly with our commitment to efficient, more sustainable and more environmentally friendly passenger transport,” says Kristján Daníelsson, Managing Director Kynnisferdir.

“We are very pleased with this large delivery to Kynnisferdir and the fact that we are taking the first steps in the Icelandic public transport market. We hope to further expand the successful collaboration with Kynnisferdir in the future,” says Rémi Henkemans, Managing Director VDL Bus & Coach bv.

For the VDL buses with a lightweight construction the focus is on achieving better fuel economy and the resulting emissions reductions.
