De Kruyff Touringcars updates fleet with 7 VDL Futuras

VDL Bus & Coach delivered three Futuras FHD2-129 and one Futura FHD2-139 to Eindhoven customer De Kruyff Touringcars, part of Pelikaan Reizen B.V., on 18 March 2016. The total order consists of seven new VDL Futura coaches. One more delivery will follow later this year, and the remaining two vehicles will be delivered in 2017. With this order De Kruyff Touringcars is replacing half of their fleet of coaches, which consists entirely of VDL Futuras. The coaches are used for many different purposes, including day trips and multi-day tours in-country and abroad for companies, associations and institutions. De Kruyff Touringcars also provides group transport for several multinationals in and around Eindhoven.

Peter Tonnaer and John Goverde, both director of De Kruyff Touringcars: “Our choice for the VDL Futura is based in part on the good price/quality ratio, which means we can keep the total operating costs as low as possible. These new coaches are state-of-the-art in terms of powertrain efficiency, with fuel-efficient engines and the associated minimal emissions of harmful substances. We believe it is important to transport our passengers in a safe, comfortable and economical way. With our very young fleet we can guarantee that now and in the future.”

Two length variants
The order for De Kruyff Touringcars consists of two length variants: four 12.9-metre Futuras FHD2-129 with 50+1+1 seating and three 13.9-metre Futuras FHD2-139 with 60+1+1 seating. All the Futuras are fitted with efficient DAF MX engines, with 271 kW and 340 kW respectively. To ensure passenger safety, De Kruyff Touringcars has chosen a package of options that includes AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking System), LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System) and ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control).

De Kruyff Touringcars and Pelikaan Reizen
De Kruyff Touringcars is part of Pelikaan Reizen. Originally family companies, each has a history that stretches back more than 85 years. De Kruyff Touringcars and Pelikaan Reizen are active in many aspects of the travel and passenger transport world. Willy de Kruyff Touringcars was founded in Eindhoven over 85 years ago. The company has a modern, young fleet, consisting of vehicles with a capacity of 19 to 68 people. The company name was changed to De Kruyff Touringcars in 2016. Together with Pelikaan Reizen, the company offers day trips, multi-day tours, transfers and arranged group transport. De Kruyff Touringcars has combined the name change with the introduction of a new logo. The new name, De Kruyff Touringcars, the new company logo and the new VDL Futuras were presented during an event attended by customers, stakeholders and suppliers on 31 March 2016. Wim van der Leegte, CEO VDL Groep, led the official ceremony.
