Daily operation

Electric mobility has passed the point of pilots and tests. Fleets with larger numbers of zero-emission buses are today's reality. VDL Bus & Coach is a forerunner in the transition to clean, quiet public transport and currently European market leader in electric city buses. In a number of German and Dutch cities the public is already benefiting from these quiet, clean buses. With smart charging strategies and custom-made buses practically any form of zero-emission public bus transport can be achieved.

Amsterdam Metropolitan Area
In and around Amsterdam 100 VDL Citeas SLFA Electric are in service, divided between
Schipholnet buses and R-net buses. This is the largest electric bus fleet in Europe.

With the deployment of 43 Citeas SLFA-181 Electric on eight high-frequency city lines, Eindhoven
has one of the world's most advanced bus operations.

The Dutch Wadden Islands
The natural environment and heavy tourism of the West Frisian Islands necessitates the use of
quiet, flexibly deployable buses, which makes the 14 electric Citeas in service there the perfect

Cologne has chosen to utilize the electric Citea for one of their busiest lines. Eight SLFA-181 buses
are used to provide clean, quiet passenger service on line 133.

In Venlo, even the regional lines are now benefiting from zero-emission service: 12 Citeas LLE-99
Electric are deployed on three different lines.

The German city of Münster is one of the first cities to electrify a complete bus line. Service on line

Following completion of a pilot with several electric Citeas, line 3 is now operating with fully electric
service, provided with four Citeas SLF-120 Electric.
